Research into the archaeology of historic periods at Oxford ranges widely across both time and space, extending from the Aegean Bronze Age to the the Caribbean in the colonial period. Much of it is multi-disciplinary, drawing, for example, on scientific, art-historical and anthropological approaches and there is a particular emphasis on the study of urban spaces, the landscapes and economy of late Antiquity, and the nature of the built environment. Long-standing seminar series such as the Greek Archaeology Group, the Roman Discussion Forum, and the Medieval Archaeology Seminar, provide an additional forum for the discussion of the archaeology of historic periods. Many of the projects listed below involve international collaborations, as well as collaborations within the School and other Departments of the University.
